An Outdoor Room as Public Art: the Pool Pavilion

Holly re-imagined and painted this pavilion at oldest public poolPool1

in the country, Underwood Pool in Pool beforeBelmont Center outside Boston, from plain vanilla cinderblocks > with one-inch brushes for two months, to create her faux facade of an Italian Villa or English Folly, with friend painters Meryl Leahey, Kathryn Leahey, Mary Lee, Eudoxia Woodward, Pat Pratt, Holly Angel, Laura Simmons, and others. Right next to the public library and across from the high school, it was a hit. Photos by Kim Allis. (The 'before' picture is ironic - that's today. It lasted 10 years.) Pool2
