artist + producer: digital innovations for interior design

Biography

About the Artist

Artist-Decorator Holly Alderman gives Classicism a new look with new art forms for interiors and gardens. In her rural studio in Jaffrey NH, she designs unique wall art and indoor-outdoor garden banners with views of sculpture, flowers, landscapes and architecture in transparent layers.
..............

Alderman is an artist whose work has been shown at the White House, at Saint-Gaudens National Historic Site, the Architectural Digest Show, the Chelsea Flower Show in London, the National Academy Mural Fellowship Exhibit, and the Boston Museum of Fine Arts’ Garden Gallery of Art in Bloom, as well as on This Old House, Dream House and Today, and many public events and private collections.
.......................

Holly's original murals and decorative arts are installed in residences, restaurants and parks from Southern California to Maine to London.
.........................

She explores innovations in printmaking for new applications in interior décor, and experiments with gold and metallic painting with wild ferns.
......................

Alderman invented garden banners that reinvigorate classical themes by combining views of sculpture, flowers and landscapes in transparent layers of photography. Each banner blends transparent visions of concurrent realities, including scenes of Saint-Gaudens National Historic Site in Cornish, NH.
...................

Alderman paints in gold blends, copper, brass and pearlescent tones to create illusions of light and textures on canvas, walls, floor cloths, room screens and objects.
.....................

Her innovative techniques for Garden Banners have been featured in professional photography magazines including Digital Graphics.
.......................

She also paints scenery for large scale residential and commercial spaces, as well as furnishings, summerboards, curtains and shades.
.....................

Holly is the third generation of Aldermans to create architectural arts. While a Mural Fellow at the National Academy, she designed for the Academy’s Beaux Arts mansion on Fifth Avenue an innovative format for murals of Central Park with multi-layered digital images of statues, landscapes, skylines and iconography.
....................

She studied art with Grace Graupe-Pillard, Varujan Boghosian, Rudolph Arnheim, Robert Neuman, Judith Austen, Mirko, and Paul Rotterdam. She is a graduate of Harvard College, magna cum laude.
.........................

Several photos of her North Acres Studio gardens appear in Julie Moir Messervy's newest book, Home Outside, Creating the Landscape Your Love.
