About the Artist

Holly Alderman's original murals and historic decorative arts are installed in residences, restaurants and parks from Southern California to Maine to London.

Alderman designs wallpaper, art and fabrics and produces innovations for interior and garden design such as garden banners with views of sculpture, flowers, landscapes and architecture in transparent layers.

Her art has appeared at the White House, at Saint-Gaudens National Historic Site, the Architectural Digest Show, the Chelsea Flower Show in London, the National Academy Mural Fellowship Exhibit in New York, and the Boston Museum of Fine Arts’ Garden Gallery of Art in Bloom, as well as on This Old House, Dream House and Today, and many public events and private collections. Her innovative techniques for Garden Banners have been featured in professional photography magazines including Digital Graphics.

She explores innovations in digital printing for new applications and experiments with gold and metallic painting with ferns.

Alderman invented garden banners that reinvigorate classical themes by combining views of sculpture, flowers and landscapes in transparent layers of photography. Each banner blends transparent visions of concurrent realities, including scenes of Saint-Gaudens National Historic Site in Cornish, NH.

Holly is the third generation of Aldermans to create architectural arts. While a Mural Fellow at the National Academy, she designed for the Academy’s Beaux Arts mansion on Fifth Avenue an innovative format for murals of Central Park with multi-layered digital images of statues, landscapes, skylines and iconography.

She studied art with Grace Graupe-Pillard, Varujan Boghosian, Rudolph Arnheim, Robert Neuman, Judith Austen, Mirko, and Paul Rotterdam. She is a graduate of Harvard College, magna cum laude.
